Rebecca Grossman Sentenced to 15 Years to Life
Co-Founder of Grossman Burn Foundation Convicted of Murder
Grossman's Husband Testifies Against Her
Rebecca Grossman, co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison on Monday in Van Nuys for the deaths of Mark and Jacob Iskander, aged 11 and 8.
Grossman's husband, Mark, testified against her Tuesday, stating that he had ridden in the car with her hundreds of times and could not recall her ever driving recklessly.
However, prosecutors presented evidence that Grossman had been driving under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs at the time of the accident. They also argued that she had a history of reckless driving and had been cited for multiple traffic violations in the past.
In an emotion-packed hearing, Grossman apologized to the Iskander family, saying that she was "deeply sorry" for her actions.
However, the judge rejected her apology, saying that she had shown "a complete lack of remorse" and had put the lives of others at risk.
Grossman's sentencing brings to a close a long and tragic chapter in the lives of the Iskander family. Mark and Jacob Iskander were two innocent children who were senselessly killed by the reckless actions of Rebecca Grossman.
