Rebecca Grossman Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Killing Two Boys
Husband Testifies at Murder Trial
Grossman Found Guilty of Vehicular Manslaughter
Rebecca Grossman was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday for killing two boys in a car crash in 2020. Grossman, 51, was found guilty of two counts of vehicular manslaughter in February.
The boys, Mark and Jacob Iskander, 11 and 8, were walking with their family in Westlake Village on September 29, 2020, when they were struck and killed by Grossman's car.
Grossman's husband, Dr. Peter Grossman, testified at her trial that he had been in a vehicle hundreds of times when she was behind the wheel and that she had a history of reckless driving.
Grossman's defense team argued that she was not intoxicated at the time of the crash and that she had suffered a medical episode that caused her to lose control of her car.
The jury rejected that argument and found Grossman guilty of vehicular manslaughter. The judge sentenced Grossman to 15 years in prison, the maximum sentence for the crime.
In a statement after the sentencing, the Iskander family said they were "heartbroken" by the loss of their sons and that they hoped Grossman's sentence would send a message to other drivers about the dangers of reckless driving.
